New Preston Village offers antique shops, restaurants, and more. Lake Waramaug and Lake Waramaug State Parkis just north, Steep Rock State Park is south, and Mount Tom State Park is 4 miles east, where you will have ample opportunity for hiking, biking, canoeing, swimming, or simply relaxing. New Preston offers shopping and restaurants, and there are some fine places for visitors to stay.
Hopkins Inn is an enchanting 19th century country inn sitting high above the northern shore of Lake Waramaug. The Hopkins Inn has welcomed travelers since 1847, inviting guests to enjoy expansive views of the lake, the Berkshire foothills, and neighboring vineyards from the dining areas and guest rooms. There is also access to the waters of the lake through the Hopkins Inn beach.
The Public schools are a part of Region 12. consisting of Washington Primary School. and Shepaug Valley Middle High School.
Washington Montessori School. l The Washington Montessori School is an independent, not-for-profit day school for girls and boys from 18 months of age through eighth grade. It is located in New Preston, within the town of Washington, Connecticut and draws students largely from Litchfield County.
